Managing Menopause Beautifully.jpg

As a healthcare professional, my desire is to infuse knowledge and understanding regarding self-care and sexual health to all individuals, whether you are a college student, a menopausal woman, or a pre-teen with questions. In my private practice, I provide individual and couples counseling and sex therapy.

Often times “the truth about sex” can be tough to discern. And without attention to one’s well-being, you can become depressed, anxious, and burned out at work endeavors or with those you love.

After practicing in sex therapy for more than 20 years, I found it apparent that women needed a book that addresses the physical, emotional, and sexual effects of menopause. Few publications go in depth to expose the issues of sexuality during this transition of a woman’s life. My book, Managing Menopause Beautifully: Physically, Emotionally, and Sexually does just that.

In my private psychotherapy practice in Wilmington, NC, I have been privileged to help women understand their sexual identity, repair the weakened areas of their identity, and intensify their connection with their partner. It became evident that putting these strategies into writing could reach even more individuals. And possibly move the topic of menopause from being a “taboo” or embarrassing subject into a new arena of understanding. My hope is that today’s women will be better prepared to educate the seasoned women of tomorrow!

In addition to the need for a book on menopause, as a mother of a curious 8-year-old son, I found I did not have all the age-appropriate answers to Ben's sexual questions. My search for “the book” to aid my discussions with him came up empty so his father and I wrote one together, When Benjamin Wants to Know: Family Conversations About the Facts of Life. This book focuses on the many provocative questions a pre-adolescent (age 8 to 12) will ask and presents information an “askable” parent can deliver with comfort.

Currently, I have a private psychotherapy practice in Wilmington, NC, and serve people in the surrounding areas. I'd love to get to know you. If you're in need, please schedule a free consultation to discover how I can help you with your specific needs.
